Tony Thake - Chairman
Tony moved to the Island early in 2001 and has been a director of the residents' association since 2003. In addition to playing a part as needed in the 'bread and butter' role of the residents' association, such as scrutinising the finances, making sure the managing agents do the job they are paid for, his main interest is to promote efforts that will help the development of Enfield Island Village as a community, rather than just a motley collection of isolated individuals and families. I moved to the island with my husband in August 2001, having previously lived in Friern Barnet. Twelve months ago I left my position as a project manager for a bank in the City to have my first baby. Since he was born in October I have been a full-time mother and through this have met lots of people on the island and in the local area. This has encouraged me to give something back to the community and the Residents' Association is the perfect forum to try and help make the island a safe and enjoyable place for us all to live. I have lived on the Island for 5 years. I am very interested in community regeneration and safety on the Island. I feel that we can make 'a difference' if we all work together to build a sustainable and safe environment. The Island is ideally situated close to good transport links, local schools and businesses, but we need to work together to ensure that the area is well maintained, rubbish and waste removed on time and street lighting improved.
